Anyone seen the Human Weapon series on the History channel? Interesting it follows a couple of american guys, one is an MMA fighter who seems to have a rep and an american football player/wrestler. Their names escape me at the mo but it's not important.
Just seen a couple of episodes on Muay thai, Karate they train with "masters" for a week and then take a challenge from one of the "masters" pupils.
Both guys got competitve spirit etc but seem to have little street nouse. Watched them train against knife with Krav Magda very cool. catch some excerpts on you tube you see what I mean.

I think this show highlighted the fact that mma martial arts are still in their infancy and lack the depth of knowledge and years of understanding more traditional arts possess. If you watch the judo episode this is even more apparent

I wonder if this is so demonseed or does just highlight the difficulties of fighting accross differing sets of rules? MMA rules are different to judo etc and therefore the way in which exponents train makes them efficient at competing within their particular rule framework.
