Anyone interested in the Tourney should check out the reply regarding ego in the Spirit section.
The tourney training has begun and it has brought to the surface character traits, feelings and emotions.
I will be posting my thoughts on training every so often so feel free to comment as you feel necessary.
The Tourney is here and has proved an invaluable anvil on which to shape your very soul.
The Komuso System is more than a skill set, more than just a system of combat and more than an amalgam of methods for victory.
Research this well.

I am going to have to borrow from Dog Bros again. We do ourselves no favor by holding back on attacking our opponents in tourney fighting. The aim is to provide realism, and an environment to expose ourselves to violent intent.
How do we achieve these aims by only half heartedly attacking with un committed technique!!
The answer is; we do not serve ourselves or our opponents by training in this way.
There is a paradox here. We should hold our own side, catch the timing and rhythm of the opponent to gain the advantage, and as is oft alluded to "there is no first strike", etc etc. Yet you are required to commit to attacks and in doing so risk all!!
That my friends is the point; you must risk all in order to attain victory over yourself. It is fear of one kind or another which binds us and prevents us from acting in a spontaneous and effective way. It stifles our abilities and ultimately puts ourselves in greater danger.
If you are not going to commit to an attack then, simply, why attack at all. You will just waste valuable energy.
Tourney fighting is there to set you free!! You must let go of thought and act with certainty.

The other Thursday during tourney training session, I had the honor of facing off with Lee.
Amusingly I had shortened the rounds to thirty seconds as everyone seemed a little hesitant and I felt they were holding back. So by shortening the rounds I thought this might encourage participants to engage sooner.
Why amusingly? Well, simply, Lee and myself had spent 25 of the 30 seconds circling each other, laying our respective plans etc. Darn it !! My cunning plan didn't even work on me!!
Anyway at the 25 second mark the third man "Pete" called 5 seconds to go and instantly our plans were forgotten, circling came to an end and both of us went for it.
Now I could not tell you who bested who in those 5 secs, what techniques were used, just it felt good. All thought had vanished, there was just movement, a totally natural exchange between two individuals.
Who cares who won. That was the feeling we are looking for, freedom of mind!
Was exciting for me, but hey I don't get out much.
